Vicki's Swiss Steak

  • 1-2 lb round steak
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 28 oz can crushed or whole tomatoes
  • Wondra flour
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 4 Medium potatoes peeled and sliced in half lengthwise.
  • 4 carrots, peeled, and sliced into half-inch pieces.
  • 1 T olive oil
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Dust steak with flour, salt, and pepper (both sides). Tenderize with meat pounder, or Jaccard meat tenderizer.

    Heat oil in a large Dutch oven on stovetop. Add seasoned, tenderized beef and brown on both sides. Add tomatoes, water, potatoes, and carrots. Cover and place in oven and bake for about 2 hours.
