Apple Orange Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • Juice of one (1) orange... shell reserved
  • two (2) cups water
  • one (1) Granny Smith apple peeled and quartered
  • three (3) cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 1/4 Cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Directions

    Put 2 cups water into sauce pan. Peel the skin from the orange and dice into small pieces adding into the water. Bring to boil for 10 minutes, drain reserving the liquid and set aside orange pieces.

    Chop the apple into small pieces and place in the saucepan, add the cleaned cranberries to the diced apple/orange mixture in the saucepan with the reserved liquid.

    Add Orange juice, sugar, cinnamon and clove. On medium heat bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer until thickened, stir often.

    The cranberries will burst and the apple pieces will become tender. Let mixture come to room temperature and refrigerate. Can be made ahead, keeps well for ten days.
